Rescue Technology & Equipment Exhibition

The 1^st China International Workplace Emergency Rescue Technology & Equipment Exhibition, hosted by State Administration of Work Safety of P. R. China (SAWS) and jointly organized by National Workplace Emergency Management Center (NWEMC) and National Center for International Exchange & Cooperation on Work Safety (NCICS), will be held at Beijing International Convention Center during Sep. 27-29, 2007. At this Exhibition, you will see the most advanced emergency rescue technology and equipment used in emergency rescue for mines, chemicals, maritime operations, civil aviation, railway and road traffic, and you will meet the relevant government officials, experts, scholars, practitioners, representatives of R&D institutions and manufacturers, as well as the interested public. It is the first international workplace emergency management event held by the Chinese government and there is no doubt that it will have a great impact on improving emergency rescue technology and equipment.

Science and technology constitute a primary productive force. They are the foundation for workplace emergency management and rescue. The Chinese government pays great attention to developing science and technology used in workplace emergency rescue. The Opinions on Fully Strengthening Emergency Management, issued by the State Council, pointed out that we should increase funds in emergency management and establish a good emergency management funding system with combined contributions from the national and local governments, enterprises and social stakeholders, so as to meet the financial needs for building rescue teams and updating and maintaining their equipment, transportation and communication devices and material storage; we should develop the technology and products used in public safety, list the advanced public safety techniques, technologies, and products into the Encouraged Category of the Catalog for the Guidance of Industrial Structure Adjustment, so as to give it active policy support; we should establish support systems for public safety science and technology, support the research programs on basic theories, their application and key technology for managing public emergencies by tapping into the national science and technology planning and science funds, and improve the building of academic disciplines and programs in public safety and emergency management and the education of public safety technical personnel at colleges, universities and research institutions. The Opinions on Strengthening Workplace Emergency Management, issued by State Administration on Work Safety, emphasized that we should rely on the development of science and technology to enhance the ability of workplace emergency management and rescue; we should set up national, industry-specific and regional workplace emergency management experts groups to provide technical support for emergency management and accident rescue; we should set up workplace emergency management research and engineering centers with the support of enterprises, universities and research institutions to work for technological breakthroughs in preventing and disposing of accidents and disasters; we should encourage and support the self-based innovation in rescue technology and equipment, and introduce, digest and absorb advanced rescue technology and equipment, with a view to increasing their scientific and technological value. With rapid development of the economy and sustained efforts by the Chinese emergency management and rescue practitioners, the research on basic theories of emergency management and the technology and equipment have remarkably improved. But there is still a big gap in comparison with the developed countries. We are willing to learn from the advanced technology, equipment and experiences of other countries, so that we can improve the capability of Chinese in workplace emergency management and rescue, make people safer and healthier and build a harmonious society.

“Science has no national borders”. This Forum and Exhibition will provide an opportunity for people committed to workplace emergency management and rescue all over the world to interact with and learn from each other.
